Local police

The police force operates out of locally-based Neighbourhood Police Posts (NPPs), which are built on the ground floor of high-rise buildings or in special kiosks in residential areas. This placement promotes close interaction with the residents and allows the police the opportunity to disseminate information to the community.

The police are generally polite and friendly, are English speakers, and will take a preventative rather than a reactive approach to problems. When you are away from home on holiday, inform the police and they will arrange to patrol your home. Since any crimes that may occur must be reported to the appropriate police post, be sure you know in which area you live.
