Penalties for the import, manufacture, possession, and consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs are severe, and convicted offenders can expect jail terms, fines, public flogging, or deportation.

The arrival of coffee signals the end of the meal and the evening. A cup should be held in the right hand for pouring. Accept at least one, and at most three cups of coffee. To signal you are finished, shake your cup slightly from side to side, when you are offered another refill.
